1. What does your job role involve?
Overseeing development, collaborating with different departments on development related matters
2. What made you choose a career in technology?
It was a completely intriguing new world for me. I thought it was a broad interesting field.
3. Did you study an IT or technology related subject at GCSE, A-Level or University?
Yes, Software engineering Diploma
4. Did you get any work experience in IT or technology before this role?
Yes, I worked in software development for 12 years
5. Do you think there is a lack of females in the IT and tech sector?
Yes
6. Do you find there is a stereotype that a career in IT or technology is just for men?
Not really but given the fact that this sector is dominated by men, it might make it less attractive for women.
7. What would entice women to study technology related courses?
Having equal opportunities, equal career growth chances, equal pay
8. Are there barriers when it comes to women getting into tech?
Women are not getting the same chances that men are getting in tech. Having a men dominated workspace makes easier for recruiters to hire more men.
Also, women who are getting into tech don’t get the same career growth opportunities as men.
9. How could we encourage more women to start a career in tech?
Having more diverse workspace encourages women to consider a career in tech
10. What advice would you give to young women at the start of their career?
To have self-confidence and not
